The game is set in 1912 a time before the first two Bioshocks, which were set in an underwater utopia (supposedly), so far there seems to be no real connections to the first two other than a big daddy/ratchet and clank pirate and telekinesis. The player can use a grappling hook to swing around the city and can levitate guns from enemy's hands! The real question is; is Bioshock: Infinite even set in the same universe as the first two?Designer Ken Levine refuses to answer but so far the steampunk shooter is showing some resemblance to the past games, such as the opening to the trailer, which sees the character's head dunked in an aquarium containing a fake big daddy and a fake Chicago; This could possibly be an inspiration to Andrew Ryan (who later went on to create Rapture, the setting for Bioshock 1&2), however Andrew Ryan did not enter America until 1919. The most interesting thing in my opinion are the Robots seen twice in the trailer, they are clearly not big daddies as their hands are more robotic than glove like and so far haven't called for a little sister (another thing we probably won't be seeing this time around), they do however seem to want to keep the woman (named Elizabeth) in their possession. In one shot you see the creatures head which is actually a large helmet (not unlike an astronaut helmet) with a heart beating inside. So far the story goes no further however we do know there is an oppressive, nationalist government involved, but unfortunately, we might be going to Columbia without Tenebaum, splicers, or the words 'would you kindly?' in 2012.
