We're Going Now

We know we've only been here a few weeks but unfortunately, due to bad reception we are now ending the blog and therefore shan't be posting anything on it again. We understand nobody cares and in fact nobody will even see this message probably so we'll leave flipping the world off.

Thankyou.

Deus Ex: Video Game Revolution?

Platform: Ps3, Xbox 360, PC
Genre: Shooter, RPG
Release Date: February 2011
Developer: Eidos Montreal
Publisher: Square Enix

The augmentations look awesome and seem
to work awesome too.
The original Deus Ex could have been the best PC game of all time, it combined great cyberpunk shooting with role playing, it was awesome. Then came Deus Ex: Invisible war, a dumbed down and not as good sequel but still exceptional. And now we look to Deus Ex: Human Revolution for our Deus desires. The new FPS/RPG will be on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and will be a prequel to the other two games. An interesting feature is the ability to augment your body to help you in missions (similar to Crysis 2), they are divided into 4 types; combat, stealth, social and technology, with these you can go through the game without killing anyone (other than bosses) or kill just about everyone. Another awesome feature is squad leaders, these command a squad of enemies and if killed the squad will go a bit rubbishy, the enemies can also react to different play-styles making the game more... interesting <evil laugh>. A big change is regenerating health, the developers didn't want players to get stuck due to low health. Close-up-instant-kills, certain augmentations and the cover system are all in third person unlike the rest of the game.

Speach will play a large part of the game,
your social abilities can be upgraded!
(Intimidate - 1up!)
Adam Jensen (You) is a security guard at a company that makes augmentations, after an attack on the company he is forced to undergo augment surgery (as I call it), giving him wrist blades and cool mech-shades. Adam has an apartment to store his collected stuff (where else do you put your oddheadgaming fan letters?), you will travel to 5 different places, 3 being Shanghai, Detroit (put your hands up) and Montreal. Adam's actions will lead to the creation of UNATCO (United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition), a company that fights International Terrorism in the 1st and 2nd game. Catch the game in February 2011.

That Stone Sure Has a Lot of Blood On It!

Blood Stone cover.jpg

Console(s): Ps3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Microsoft Windows
Genre: Shooter
Release Date: November 2nd 2010

Daniel Craig lends his voice but unfortunately it's his
stunt double providing mo-cap.
Yes the witty title is of course referring to the new Bond game: Bloodstone, a third person shooter being developed by Bizarre Creations. The story's being written by Bruce Feirstein, the man behind Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough, Bizarre Creations however, are well known for their racing games; such as PGR and blur, both good but the last time they had a go at a third person shooter (The Club) it didn't go so well at all. Bloodstone is mainly a third person shooter however hand to hand combat seems to play a big role along with the famed car chases of 007, it boasts the new 'Focus Aim' system that allows you to lock onto targets after taking them out (better than it sounds... no really!), and will have up to 16 player multiplayer (spies vs mercenaries) but as we all know; Quantum of Solace's multiplayer barely got played due to bad scoring, let's hope Bloodstone is different.

When it is thought that a researcher is dead, James Bond (you) and socialite Nicole Hunter go on a search across Athens, Istanbul, Monaco, Siberia and Bangcock (don't laugh!), but Bond's got to fight off a terrorist organisation led by a man they call... Greco! Sounds cool? The bad news is it's on the same engine as The Club (mentioned earlier as utter crap), Daniel Craig's stunt double is providing mo-cap and features the voices of Daniel Craig, Judi Dench and Joss Stone. The game will be published by Activision on PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and Microsoft Windows, it will be the 23'd game with a 007/James Bond brand on it and to be honest, it could be one of the best... Jeez, why can't they just redo Goldeneye!? Oh wait they are! On Wii! <Very, very, very unhappy face>

Little Big Planet 2: Preview

Platform: PS3
Genre: Platform/UGC
Release date: November 2010

The new sackbots can be configured to perform
complex movements. (Synchronised dancing is
inevitable).
Little Big Planet made user generated content what it is today... not too big. However it revolutionised the gaming industry with the ability to create your own levels. It was mainly side scrolling, point collecting, rope swinging fun but after people started experimenting with the Level Editor some amazing things started to appear on the community browser, for example I was playing Bioshock and could even decide wether to harvest or save little sisters, I used a small NES controller to control a giant street fighter character, however in my opinion one of the simplest but smartest idea was the duckhunt game, allowing you to take control of a crosshair (a jetpack behind the background connected to it) and shoot flying ducks. I myself made a few levels, the level editor was one of the deepest and detailed creator tools ever in a game! You think putting that large block on another in Halo 3 Forge mode was amazing? Try connecting grabbable sponge to a rope conected to a lever that when grabbed opened a door via a winch, however if you let go the door would drop back, therefore if another person didn't run through the grab the sponge attached to a rope on the other side you wouldn't be able to get through. All the bolts, winches, pistons, materials, objects, settings, tools, ropes, elastic bands, backgrounds and many more, LBP could seem daunting and in truth it was at first, but with help from the dozens of tutorials (quick and easy) and Stephen Fry's narration. The game prided itself on it's 2.5D platforming and the ability to create almost anything, it was a game that played best with others (in online and offline 4 player coop) but could be played by yourself and still be a hell of fun. Then came Little Big Planet on PSP, squashing the game down and bringing another story mode to the mix, however it lacked any kind of coop and therefore disapointed fans.

All of LBP's levels will be carried
over to LBP2
And now comes the grand-daddy of UGC with it's triumphant return to form, with plenty of new creation tools and costumes and levels and pretty much everything you wanted in LBP 1! The game now features bounce pads, a grappling hook and more fun items to pick up a long with the new direct control seat, this allows creators to assign button presses to machines, for example; say you sat in somebody's control seat they had assigned to a large robotic sackboy (the character you play), if you pressed left the robot would go left and stuff like that, it allows creators to make much more odd designs but easier. The next big thing is something that was heavily needed in the original; decent AI, in LBP you could give robots a brain and set it to follow you or run away from you and a few more things, however LBP2 introduces the new sackbots, you can assign these to do very complex movements, give them the Creatonator (I'll talk about that later) and assign them to shoot you, or your own enemies, you can even design there look and copy and paste there AI to other sackbots, heck as soon as I get the game I'm assigning them to recreate Gamer's 'I've got you under my skin' scene. Next is the Creatonator, a gun that can be configured to fire any object the creator has made (yes even a flaming dinosaur), there is the powerglove that lets you pick up heavy objects and the creator can now use a keyboard and mouse to edit levels for extra detail. The game will also support PS Move giving party players another way of designing levels.
Have a look for your self at the Little Big Planet Wikia.

Time to Get Move-ing!

Add caption

Console: PS3
What it is: Peripheral and Games
Release date: 14th September 2010

Playstation Move is PS3's brand new motion controller and before you say it, no it's not copying the Wii... Completely. It's main feature is the 'One to One tracking' which lets your actions be perfectly mimicked on screen. The trick here is, instead of using a sensor like the Wii, it uses the EyeToy Camera attachment for the PS3, this allows for much more accurate motion, that makes it better than the Wii. There are also plenty of games using the tech.

Sorcery is one of PS Move's brand
new titles.
So far Sorcery is my favourite as it seems to use the Move controller a lot! Flick the wand in different ways for different spells, you can also select weather the spell is fire, ice, wind and other crazy things. You can also use potions by shaking the controller then holding it to your mouth (like a drink), these can do even more interesting things like turn you into an animal! Other games include The Fight, a realistic beatemup that requires to controllers, you fight in a black and white world against others and so far it looks good, however it hasn't shown much so if you plan on getting that I suggest you look into it. Another is Sports Champions, a game full of odd little sports like fighting, archery and basketball. Move is even coming to games that don't actually need it to be played, like Killzone 3 which seems to be pioneering every new thing PS3's got (3D), a long with Little Big Planet 2 (Preordering!). So it turns out Move isn't just going to be a Wii copycat, in fact it's already got a large list of supporting games so expect SONY's motion controller to be used by many of games in the near future.

Crysis 2: The New-age FPS

Crysis 2 cover.png
Platform(s): PC, PS3, XBOX 360
Genre: First Person Shooter
Multiplayer: Yes
Contenders: COD: BO, Halo: Reach, Medal Of Honor, Killzone 3

I <3 NYC?
If you haven't already jumped on the band-wagon, you better hurry up because Crysis is zooming it's way to PC and consoles! If you haven't already checked out the many trailers and gameplay previews... WHY THE HELL NOT? If not you've missed out on seeing a preview of the most interesting upcoming shooter on the planet (yes of course it's a black ops beater). Set in the year, 2023, New York City is slowly being overrun by angry aliens.
In the middled of all this is you, delta force agent Alcatraz, he steals a nanosuit (left) and heads to the Big Apple to save the world. You'll be joining forces with the army and freedom fighters, desperately holding off the invasion that has been carried over from the original game, the game is designed around a free roaming/linear element which allows you to approach missions any way you want (no you can't run through the streets holding flowers, chanting No Woman No Cry, that's gotta be my personal fantasy), and without the Nanosuit V2, it would be no where near as fun.

Hero Alcatraz gives the OddHead Gaming Team
The Evils... Not the first time.
The Nanosuit is a futuristic masterpiece in technology, it allows the user to turn invisible, have super strength, jump high, run fast, and best of all look cool (there are many more things to name BTW). The best part in all this, however is the ability to upgrade your suit and powers to suit your play-style! Stealthy, silent, ninja blade runner? Upgrade your invisibility, jumping and stick a silencer on the end of your M9. Crazy, all out heavy, punching monster, macho SOB? Strength, speed and big LMG's it is for you! As well as over 40 different upgrades for the Nanosuit there are also plenty of weapon upgrades for each individual gun, online included! This approach allows for players to play how they want, along with the semi free roam, online players who suck in firefights can go invisible and snipe, those who want to go in, silent kill, go out can upgrade speed, there is so much versatility in this shooter Call Of Duty: Black Ops ends up looking like a pack of one flavour sweets. The game allows you to hop all over NYC, across enemy filled sky scrapers and bullet ridden streets.

Halo: Reach is a clear contender but
from what we've seen, lacks the depth
of Crysis 2, even in multiplayer.
Obvious things to compare with are COD and Halo, neither are even close, this game is so deep and new that some people could place it in a completely new genre: Awesome. Of course this may be unfair as I am not a fan of either but the truth remains that COD is the same game every year, you can dress it up with fancy killstreaks and gun camos but underneath a boring shooter sits cloning itself with a different mask, Halo isn't worth discussing, new weapons and trying to be more like COD won't cut it unfortunately, and the new forge just isn't worth £40! Crysis and Crysis Warhead were brilliant shooters with brilliant ideas which were put into play well, however they required super-computers to run properly, this new take is on consoles and pc, diminishing that problem. Overall Crysis 2 should be brilliant and if the world is fair, beat COD and Halo in sales. I know I'll be heading into a gameshop, and buying my self a copy when it comes out March 22nd in America and March 25th in England.

SINGULARITY: Game Review

Fight the Past       Save the Future       Stop the Singularity
This little gadget on his hand makes the game worth it.

                                Release Date: June 29th 2010
Genre: Sci-Fi
Single-Player: 1 Player
Multiplayer: 2-12 Players

Plenty of things to kill.

                                          What is the game about?

The single player in the game has a fantastic story. Its about you going to an island where the russians in 1950 exsperimented with E-99, which is a new chemical in development. The main character who you play is sent to the island to find the E-99 bomb that if in the wrong can cause devastation to the earth and along the way you uncover the secrets of the island, where there was a catastrophic Singularity that threatens the world.
TMD Device (UPGRADEABLE)
In the single player, you will go against many foes ranging from russian soldiers in the 1950, to futureristic soldiers fighting for the bomb in present time in the game.
Along the way in the singularity you meet plenty of mutants trying to kill you and lots of obstacles to overcome. The game gets properly started when you discover the TMD, which mean Time Manipulation Device. You feel almost invincible when you wear the TMD device, but the only bad thing about this device is that you need to aquire TMD energy and technology parts which are around the island.
The gameplay handles very well. This game is like Bioshock and Modern Warfare had a baby, but not as well put together. It uses slo-mo scenes in the game were you have to eliminate enemeys on the other side of the door and uses bioshock features such as underwater swimming sections. The feature that made this game stand out is the puzzle solving feature, this really makes you think about how to you the TMD device to its full potential.
This game also is similiar to bioshock games with the different endings. In singularity there are three possible endings.

Multiplayer:

In multiplayer, you will have the choice between two modes:
Creature VS Soldier: Basically a team deathmatch.
Extermination: Creature VS Soldiers, but instead capture a beacon or defend a beocon depending on team.

Before you go into a match you will have a set out, which is to choose your class, weapon, and perks.

If you are a soldier you choose the classes which are:
Blitzer: Teleports
Bruiser: Impulse
Healer: Heals
Lurker: Shield
Next in the loadout you will be able to choose your weapon and then perks, pretty standard.
The gameplay is done from a first person style of view.

When you play as the creatures the loadout is slightly different.
First of all you choose your class, which are:
Radion: Heavey mutant, far range.
Zek: Quick and agile, can go phantom.
Tick: Samll mutant. Can climb on walls and posess soldiers and control them. (COOL).
Revert: Medium size mutant. Can puke and kill. (BOOMER OFF LEFT 4 DEAD)
Next you will choose from two perk list.
The gameplay is done from a third person view.

Issues about the game:
The single player was too short.
The multiplayer had many connections problems and bugs, which need fixing.
The multiplayer got a bit repetitive after a while.

Good points:
Fun single player.
Good graphics and gameplay.
Unique storyline.
Lots of replayability.

Overall it was a great game but it should mainly be intended for the single player lovers and not the multiplayer fan. Single player: 8/10  Multiplayer 6/10 Overall review: 7/10

Can you stop the singularity

Medal Of Honor Preview!

Platform(s): PC, xbox 360, PS3
Genre: First-person shooter
Multiplayer: Yes
Contenders: Black ops, Crysis, Halo reach

The latest first-person shooter to hit the high street is Medal Of Honor. Its soon to be released on the 12th October 2010 in America and for the rest of us (mainly central europe) to be with us on the 15th October 2010. This is great news for those Medal Of Honor fans, but in this case some of these fans may find it dissapointing, that the franchise is leaving the WW2 battlegrounds for a modern reboot.

Single-player
Now let me talk about the game and what makes it a seperate piece from hollywood style shooters. Basically the single-player consists of you playing a bearded tier 1 operator taking on hardcore missions without fail. You step in the boots of a tier 1 and take on a enemy in the harsh and unforgiving terrain of Afghanistan. These guys are the best at fighting stealth and doing behind enemy line assaults. You also get a chance to play as "The scalpel". This is similer to how in Call Of Duty, were you play as different teams for different missions. These guys are your frontline lads. This is were action is filled on the screen as you do frontline assaults. You will also be acomplishing missions that will take you piloting helicopters, snipering enemys and giving you a taste of real warfare. With this "real warfare" in mind, it contrasts Modern Warfares hollywood set and operation flashpoints very difficult play style.

Multiplayer
The multiplayer has been developed by Dice, who have recently produced Battlefield: bad company 2. So I'am hoping to see some battlefield trademarks such as:

Vehicles
weapon power
maps

As you might know there has been a Beta to this multiplayer, featuring a map where you fight through the virtual ruins of Kabul. This taster map is proberly the most down sized map of the game but knowing Dice they have even exceeded the size of their biggest maps.
There is about three classes that bring different skills to the battlefield, large range of weapons to be used, weapon perks e.g. scopes, lasers and ammo, and finally good range of vehicles to own with.

Preview vertict
What I know about Medal Of Honor so far that it will have many games rivaling it this winter due to Black ops, halo reach and many top notch games coming to view. At the moment I can say it will be a winner to its semi-realistic look and Battlefield/Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer perks.

So make sure you are there to get this MOH revive on 12th October (America) and 15th October(rest of us).

Also, check out my review, coming soon after.

If you still have questions, visit this link to watch how the gameplay looks with this sniper mission featuring in the single-player. Link = sniper mission

Resistance 3 - Confirmed!

There was much shock at this years GAMESCOM after (alongside Ratchet & Clank All4One) Resistance 3 was confirmed with a 3 minute, live-action teaser trailer, it showed a group of survivors (including Resistance 2's Joseph Cappelli) on a train riding through America. It starts with Joseph Cappelli, recognisable by the scar on his left cheek, getting on a train with a small group of others who seem to be carrying food and weapons.
Left to bottom right: Joseph Cappelli in Resistance 2.
Joseph Cappelli in the trailer.
Joseph Cappelli shooting in the trailer.
The train travels through ruined cities, towns and the countryside with many chimera popping up now and then. It is clear that humans have lost the war and the chimera have taken over, a large tripod chimera machine from Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 struts in the background of one shot, another sees, hybrids/grims walking (but only a close up and you cannot see their faces, and the other I managed to spot was a hybrid lifting his head above a bush to watch the humans pass by. Things get stranger and stranger as it goes on; a road smeared with blood, an impaled man, a man waving through a window. Then the train stops, a siren wails (not unlike the WW2 bombing raid siren), and the people begin to load their weapons. One of the survivors holds a lighter outside and immediately the lights of Chimera cooling packs can be seen, along with the sinister glow of their eyes. Then they attack and a brief shoot-out is seen with various chimera strains (however none new), it ends on a cliffhanger with everything blacking out, and no bullets being fired. Who won? We may find out later this year or next year. Look forward to then!
